Liberation Mr. P 5.0 Signature Tuba Mouthpiece

Been using this mouthpiece for a few days and the difference in my playing is outstanding. Overall very comfortable to play on and project in an ensemble setting and when working on solo repertoire and etudes such as the Grigoriev and Kopprasch Books this mouthpiece works wonders I feel my flexibility work wonders compared to mouthpieces i’ve used in the past. Overall recommend for the Collegiate Tuba player looking to upgrade in mouthpiece.

Aside from the dimensions, which of course have to get considered in order to tailor a mouthpiece to the player, this one in particular has been manufactured very well and has become my main mouthpiece. Very pleased.

I started playing tuba in college over 30 years ago. After leaving college I really didn’t play much, mostly because I did not have access to a horn. About 4 years ago, I purchased a used Yamaha YBB-641. I was still playing on the same mouthpiece I learned with 30 years ago, a Bach 25. Thanks to the generous 30-day return policy, I could try multiple mouthpieces. Before placing my order, I reached out to Professor Mouthpiece for some advice. Initially, I had planned to try the Robert Tucci RT-50, the Robert Tucci RT-88, and the Laskey 32B. Jerome encouraged me to try the Robert Tucci’s and recommended the Laskey 32G instead for my rotary valve tuba. He also suggested I try the Liberation Mr. P 5.0 Signature. I took his advice and ordered the RT-50, RT-88, Lackey 32G, and Mr. P 5.0. Shipping was super fast and the mouthpieces were well-packaged. By the end of the 30 days, I found the Mr. P 5.0 to be the easiest to play of the four. Centering the pitch seemed easier, articulations were clear and the tone was consistent from the low through the high register. I was also impressed with the RT-88 which provided a wonderful full tone producing a throaty ”bark” in the lower register but requiring a large amount of airflow. Ultimately, I decided to keep the Mr. P 5.0 AND the RT-88. I intend to use the Mr. P 5.0 daily while experimenting and building my airflow with the RT-88. The return process for the RT-50 and the 32G could not have been easier. Thanks Jerome for all your help!

I have owned every version of the PT50 (PT/RT, 50L, 50+) and have to say that the MRP 5.0 is the BEST of them all! I find it to be the most consistent bottom to top in all dynamics. Articulations are easy and reliable. This is my go-to ‘big’ mouthpiece!!!!!

I went from a PT-36 to the Mr. P 5.0 and it made a night and day difference for me. My tone is darker, more full, and it’s easier to articulate. In short, I can just play and sound great and not have to think about playing so I can focus on musicality. It’s definitely my favorite I’ve had so far.

This mouthpiece just arrived in the mail a couple days ago, it works great, well packaged, and it even came with a little pencil! The mouthpiece is great too, it’s definitely different than my 8.8, but that’s to be expected, seeing as it’s a different mouthpiece. It has a nice core to it, while still carrying a big open sound.

I ordered the Mr. P 5.0 for my Mack Brass 3/4 piston B flat. I‘ve been using the mouthpiece for the last few days, and everything about my playing on that horn has improved: much better low notes, much more clarity and security in articulation, smoother transitions between notes in legato phrases, and greater consistency of timbre. It’s almost like buying a new tuba. Very, very happy with it!
