    The Mr. P 6.5 tuba mouthpiece by Liberation is designed by Daniel Perantoni, Professor of Music at the distinguished Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University.  Also known as Mr. P, Perantoni has been in the mouthpiece business for several decades and the 6.5 is the modern version of an earlier very successful design.  The Mr. P Signature tuba mouthpieces have been engineered for better response, ease of playability, and a centered, focused sound.

     

    The Mr. P 6.5 has a medium shallow cup, and has become the most popular mouthpiece in the line for F and Eb tubas. It is known for its warm and colorful sound in all registers.  Mr. P has also designed a sharper rim for better flexibility and more overall weight for power.

    My son's teacher recommended this for him--he was having a tough time hitting some high register notes. This mouthpiece is amazing, the first time he put it on his tuba he was able to play an F4 (D4 has been the top of his range, and even that was pretty inconsistent). He really likes how it performs in the low register too--he says his tone is much richer.

    I bought this for a Miraphone Elektra. The small shank version is best for my tuba. Now, on to the mouthpiece... Wow! Just a beautiful, easy sound that is even from low to high. It brings out the right overtones at all volumes and has a complexity to the sound that is very noticeable when compared to other mouthpieces. I find register shifts easier and more confident. The rim is very comfortable as well. This is a very good match for me and my tuba. Thanks, Professor Mouthpiece!

    Fantastic mouthpiece. Gives nuanced and colorful characteristics to my sound across the full range of the tuba. Response is tight and the rim is very comfortable, making flexibility feel effortless. Highly recommend this mouthpiece!
